New network monitoring enhancements - better reliability, better reporting, and more test sites.
Microtech Limited have released several enhancements to Netmon, Microtech's internet based network monitoring platform. These include better reporting, enhanced reliability, and a choice of more test sites.
Reporting has been updated to include zoomable graphs. Reporting periods can specified and data retention has been increased. Users can also choose to view data from specific test locations individually. This allows you to monitor response times from various areas in the world.
Enhanced reliability is gained by monitoring from more sites. Netmon uses a formula based on the number of sites you have selected to monitor from in order to determine if your site is down or not. A certain proportion of these sites must agree to the 'down' signal in order to mark your test as bad. More sites at worldwide locations means less likely hood of false alarms and more frequent monitoring.
For all new and existing Netmon users the new features are available now. Existing netmon users can add the new sites to their tests by choosing to edit the test and ticking the boxes to enable monitoring from the new locations. These new locations are disabled by default as some users choose to limit access to known hosts on their firewall's. Public monitoring sites are now available in the UK, Guernsey, Jersey, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles. Further sites to follow as demand grows.
