"I am over the moon with the email backup system, especially as our main service providers in London seem to have had many service outages this year."

DNS Fail over service

You can use Microtech's network monitoring service in conjunction with our DNS services to provide full DNS fail over capability.

For DNS fail over to work, you simply add the host record, good IP, and fail over IP to any netmon test and we do the rest.

Monitoring your critical internet services from multiple locations, if we determine that your site is down the fail over will be activated and the dns records listed changed to the alternate IP addresses. Once the site is detected as back up, we automatically fail back the records to the primary IP's. Microtechs DNS servers have little to no propagation time between them, so changes happen very quickly.

Using dns fail over with netmon tests is very easy to do, and there is no limit to the number of IP's you can fail over.

As an alternative to dns failover if you don't have a backup site you can display a page telling visitors there is a temporary issue, or re-direct the to an alternate site. We'll even email your visitors to let them know your site is back up.
