Using DNS Experience test with Netmon
|Netmon offers a variety of different testing protocols/methods you can use to determine a server failure, but it also offers a DNS experience test. This test method shows the real world DNS lookup experience and graphs the data for the duration you wish.
The DNS Experience method will allow you to monitor a reponse time from a set of Authoritative DNS servers using a DNS lookup on port 53 - the typicaly port for DNS Queries. To setup a DNS Experience test, you must first name the test, then select DNS Experience as the test type as shown in the screenshot shown below. You should then scroll down and input your server hostname as well as the port (typically 53). You also need to scroll all the way to the bottom and input the record type as well as the subdomain you wish to query and save the test.
